    Nil-Cor awarded Canadian Registration Numbers

    Announcement:
Nil-Cor has been awarded Canadian Registration Numbers by all Canadian provinces. The Canadian Registration Number (CRN) is a number issued by each province/territory of Canada to the design of pressure-containing equipment. The CRN identifies that the design has been accepted and registered for use in that province/territory. Typically boilers, pressure vessels, piping, and valves fall under this requirement. Read More

To obtain a CRN, the manufacturer must:

    1. Make a formal application to the provincial agency in charge boiler safety.
    2. Submit a formal notarized and witnessed Statutory Declaration for each class of fitting.
    3. Submit complete engineering documentation and catalog information for the product for a rigorous technical review by the safety agency.
    4. In the case of designs that do not fit neatly into existing codes and standards, the reviewing agency may require witnessed performance testing. Such was the case for Nil-Cor composite valves.

In the name of safety, Canadian provinces are now tightening up on their regulation of pressure retaining equipment, including valves. To limit liability, engineering firms and end users are refusing to specify or use equipment that does not have a CRN for province in which the equipment would be used.

Due to the tenacity of the Nil-Cor Engineering team, Nil-Cor now has the CRNs needed to do business in Canada!

Contact Nil-Cor Customer Service for additional details and copies of the CRNs for each province.

    Stronger, Tougher, BV Handle

    Stronger Handle Announcement:
Nil-Cor has developed an improved handle for the 2” and 3” valve sizes. The new handle, made of vinylester thermoset FRP, replaces the old thermoplastic handle. This improves the corrosion resistance of the handle in the most frequently encountered acid services, eliminates handle failures due to high torque (as in a very dirty service) and eliminates a “crud trap” on the handle hub. Read More

The key design features of this new Cemented-End Ball Valve are:

    1. Long-Fiber Thermoset FRP material, compression-molded.
    2. Closed stem bore on the top side to eliminate pocket where corrosive material could accumulate.
    3. Additional rib for extra strength.

Benefits to the end user include:

    1. Eliminate handle failures.
    2. Drop-in replacement for the old handle. No valve modifications needed to install.

Contact Nil-Cor Customer Service for additional details.

    TEBV with CPVC End Caps

TEBV with CPVC End Caps TEBV with CPVC End Caps Announcement:
Nil-Cor has introduced a significant modification of the 3-piece Threaded-end Ball Valve, in sizes ½” through 2”. Many municipal wastewater treatment facilities and bleach producers favor the use of PVC piping due to its low cost and easy installation. However, PVC and CPVC ball valves are a weak link, with their easily-fractured plastic stems and inherent temperature limitations. Read More

This new Nil-Cor offering allows the user to “glue” the Nil-Cor valve with our polysulfone body, ball and encapsulate Hastelloy®-C stem, directly into the PVC line, so that they may enjoy the benefits of the PVC piping system while eliminating the common problems inherent in plastic valves.

The key design features of this new Cemented-End Ball Valve are:

    1. Rugged polysulfone FRP center-body, stem and ball.
    2. CPVC or PVC end caps.
    3. Nil-Cor ST and SR seats eliminate the need to drill holes in the ball for pressure relief.

Benefits to the end user include:

    1. Easy installation in CPVC piping with cemented (‘glued”) ends.
    2. Increased durability compared to PVC valves by virtue of the polysulfone body, ball, and encapsulate Hastelloy®-C stem.
    3. Easy seat replacement in-line by removing all but one body bolts and swinging the body clear of the line.

Contact Nil-Cor Customer Service for additional details.
